چکیده

M itral valve stenosis of origin other than rheumatic fever is a rare entity. Giant-cell myocarditis is an extremely rare, with poor prognosis, probably autoimmune, granulomatous disease of the heart. Progressive congestive heart failure, intraventricular conduction defects and ventricular arrhythmias, which in many cases can be fatal, are the usual manifestations of this disease. On the contrary, mitral valve stenosis has not been observed as an initial clinical presentation of giant-cell myocarditis. The present case report regards a patient with the clinical presentation of a rapidly evolved mitral valve stenosis, due to giant-cell infiltration of the myocardium and the mitral apparatus.

Mitral stenosis together with a giant cell myocarditis limited to the left atrium.

A case is described in which mitral stenosis was associated with a giant cell myocarditis; the latter lesion was, however, localized to the left atrium. A quite high proportion of reported cases of giant cell myocarditis have occurred in association with rheumatic heart disease. The nature of this relationship is discussed and it is concluded that, in such cases, the giant cell reaction may rep...

RIGHT VENTRICULAR FATTY INFILTRATION IN MITRAL STENOSIS, A RARE CAUSE OF SURGICAL FAILURE.

A 47 year-old female died after mitral valve replacement. Post-cardiopulmonary bypass right ventricle was not able to pump despite good left ventricular contractility. At microscopic examination, diffuse right ventricular fatty infiltration was found. We found no previous report of this pathology in patients with mitral stenosis

Two Unusual Cases of Giant Cell Myocarditis Associated with Mitral Stenosis and with Wegener's Syndrome.

Inflammation of the myocardium may occur in association with a wide variety of clinical conditions and occasionally occurs as an apparently isolated disorder without demonstrable cause. In some cases of isolated myocarditis, giant cells form part of the inflammatory reaction and the lesion has then been described as "isolated giant cell myocarditis." Giant cell myocardial lesions may occur, of ...

Pacman Heart as a Congenital Cardiac Defect Associated with Flail Mitral Valve and a Partial form of Shone\'s Complex; A Case Report

Partial muscular inter-ventricular septal defect (VSD) or Pacman heart is a rare congenital or occasionally acquired anomaly. Concurrent Pacman heart and Shone's complex are extremely rare and have never been reported until now. We described a 37-year-old male patient with congenital Pacman heart, flail mitral valve (FMV), and a history of multiple congenital anomalies, including subvalvular ao...

بررسی عوامل موثر در افزایش سطح دریچه و پیدایش نارسایی میترال بعد از بالون میترال والولوپلاستی در 110 بیمار در مجتمع بیمارستانی امام خمینی

Background: Percutaneous Transeptal Mitral Commisurotomy (PTMC) has been used in treating mitral stenosis with variable success, its main complication being mitral incompetence. There is a need to define the subgroup of the patients who benefit mostly from the procedure. Methods: We studied 110 patients (age 17 to 60 years mean 33.2) with mitral stenosis. PTMC was performed though femoral vein....
